Extension Church No. 23 of Bible Baptist Church Katipunan began in the heart of our Pastor Dr. Armie F. Jesalva as he saw the need to start another work in the ever growing Mandaue City area. 4 works had already been started there (Centro, Paknaan, Canduman, Labogon) but more had to be done to reach the lost in this part of Northern Cebu. Bible Studies had been done in a house of a member (Bro. Bert & Febe Ceniza) in the barangay of Cabancalan during the later part of 2001, and in November 20 we had a week long saturation of the area. In November 25 we had our 1st service with 37 in total attendance. God blessed in the following weeks exponentially and financially as the church took in missionaries to the foreign lands to support. By the 5th month, the house was already surrounded with children’s Sunday School classes on one side and the Adults on the other side.
The need for more space was a part of the prayer list. God answered by allowing the church to rent the second floor of the Un Heng Building in the next barangay of Casuntingan. The 2nd to the 3rd year saw a steady growth in attendance averaging 200 each Sunday. The 3rd year Anniversary was marked with a high day of over 600 attending. Last 2005 of December as the extension church marked their 4th Anniversary God blessed with 1038 people attending and 239 people accepting Jesus as their Savior. Currently, World In Need Baptist Church supports local missionaries and international missionaries as a testament of God’s provision in sharing the Gospel to the world.
In January 2006 God had allowed the church to purchase its own lot (lease to own) in the next barangay of Maguikay. 1,000 sq. mtrs. Of property will be used to be the home of the church. We are praying that over the next 5 years God will continue to provide 53,000 ($1,000) each month for this project. The church is at the same time constructing its building by the contributions of the members and other Christians who share the vision of World in Need. Pray with us and join us as we reach a world in need with God’s Word that feeds in Mandaue and through out the world.
